"Most of my adult life, I feel like I’ve fit the description Kinda Fit Kinda Fat™. I wouldn’t classify my physical features as fat, but my eating habits definitely are. I grew up on take-out food, not that my parents couldn’t cook, they just never had the time. So, it was easy to carry on that habit when I started college and even when I started living on my own. Eating out is just so much easier. But as I got older, my physique and wallet definitely suffered.

Before college, I was pretty active, I was on the high school volleyball and powderpuff teams. But I never really paid any attention to what or how much I ate, I just ate.

I guess I started to really notice these bad habits during my freshman year of college; freshman 50, relationship weight… I ate whatever I wanted, and mostly, whenever I wanted. Towards the end of that year, I started to cut down on fried foods, aka Popeye’s Tuesdays, daily fried eggs and rice from the cafeteria, and the general AYCE portions that the cafeteria provided.

What was missing was the fit part of my life. Once, I started nursing school, I finally started a strict workout routine, but not for fit reasons. I found that it was so difficult to stay awake in class, so I decided to go to the gym every weekday morning at 5:30 am. I followed this routine for a while, until school got easier and until I graduated.

Now, I’m working night shift and living on my own. I still struggle with dragging myself to the gym, trying not to eat out as much, and trying to resist ordering food at work. I have spurts of meal preps and intense gym sessions, but I have yet to find a consistency.

So, I guess I’ll be Kinda Fit Kinda Fat for life. But there’s nothing wrong with that. 🤷🏽‍♀️
