Hitting Your Mark

Hit Your Mark:

From Center Stage to the Main Stage

Have you ever felt like you know where you belong, but where that was specifically was still a mystery?

There have been many times in my life where I felt like things were a good fit, but not to the point where things could get locked into place.

Early 2019

I was busy running the annual musical at my Alma mater. The usual costume fittings, script adjustments, and casting calls were in full swing. This was one of my busier times of the year when I was in and out of rehearsal, meetings with parents, and doing group sessions for scene studies. The last thing on my mind was getting any job offers.

Opening night came and went with a blink of an eye. As soon as I caught my breath the last curtain was taking its last bow. After the applause for the students faded and most of the photos had been taken, a familiar face was making his way through the crowd. I hadn’t seen much of him outside of the occasional visits to some childhood haunts. The congratulatory statements were appreciated. What stood out most was his curiosity for my work outside of the theater. He gave me an invitation to continue conversations on a later day. We said our goodbyes, and that was it for the night. I had had several conversations that night about the show, my work, and my work life outside of the theater but, something about this conversation, left me with the idea that my life was about to change into something I would have never expected.

Here I am,

exactly 1 year later typing this in my office seated next to the person who introduced me to this whole world. I’m not sure if he’ll ever know how much his choice to come talk to me after the show has changed my life. But to that person I am forever indebted to your willingness to think out of the box.In this past year there have been many ups and downs, challenges, and definitely A LOT of growth. As the Director of Events for Kinda Fit Kinda Fat, it has given me so many opportunities to explore all those areas with vigor and confidence to know that we’re all in this together.

As part of the Kinda Fit Kinda Fat tribe, I invite you to explore these different facets of life together with me. The ups the downs, the challenges, and the triumphs. We are a tribe of people because we identity with the core message of this company. We believe in the different, we believe in the unconventional, and we believe in the inclusivity of all these different types of areas for the betterment of humanity. We accept each other for who we are and implore others to encourage their neighbors to succeed in becoming the better versions of themselves. We encourage those who may have never stepped into a gym, to just take the first step. For those who may have always walked in with the confidence, but just haven’t had the motivation to hit those PRs. Its okay if you need a “me day” and enjoy that pizza! There is always a tomorrow to try again!

This page is a co-op of stories, recaps, and just opportunities to sit back and relax, to read what we’ve been up from different perspectives within this community.

If you ever feel like sharing something with us, whether a glimpse into your life in and out of the gym, your foodie adventure, maybe you have a recipe you’d like to share with the world, to some music you think our readers will enjoy, please feel free to send us an email!

For now, I leave you with this..

" Hit them PRs, make them gainz, and eat that donut.

You deserve it."
