Casey's Barber Shop
“Casey's Barbershop” - Est. 2016
The tall Monrovia Canyons provides a fitting backdrop for Casey's Barbershop located in downtown Monrovia. Inside of this bustling barbershop is a reflection of the classic American dream.
KFKF: How did you come to start your own barbershop?
Casey: I was initially in the real estate business when the housing market went to shit. I had to reinvent myself and started cosmetology school at age 33 and started cutting hair as a barber after that. It was never my intent to work for somebody for the rest of my life, so I made it my goal to have my own barbershop within 5 years, and within 5 years I was able to do just that.
KFKF: What advice would you give to other people who are considering starting up their own business?
Casey: Strive to be positive and driven. Don't let the naysayers and negative people keep you from achieving your goal. When it comes to what you know is right, never take no for an answer. If it seems like there is no path to your goal, bulldoze your way through until you get to it. Once you're there, work twice as hard as you did. Treat others with respect and inspire the people around you to achieve their own goals.
