"With all the knowledge I have now, I wish I could tell my younger self that I was all worth it. That with time I was going to find that self-love I have for myself now." - Monica
"Growing up, I wasn’t very athletic. I was very insecure about my image. I always felt like I wasn’t skinny enough, pretty enough, or even worth enough as a person. Even at my skinniest, I felt like I was too big. Over time, and with the support from my family and boyfriend, I started to find and feel beauty within myself.
In 2020, I had a health scare that forced me to go to the doctor to see how my health was doing internally. My doctor told me with a healthy diet and work out, I would be able to get back on track. I dreaded the idea of having to run or do cardio. That’s when my brothers introduced me the world of powerlifting. I fell in love the first time I lifted. I pushed myself every workout to get stronger and stronger. With COVID closing gyms, my brother David didn’t let that stop him. He built an amazing home gym that kept us on track and he made sure we were fully equipped with everything we needed. After a small time lifting, I started to find myself more beautiful while I discovered muscles I didn’t even know I had.
With all the knowledge I have now, I wish I could tell my younger self that I was all worth it. That with time I was going to find that self-love I have for myself now.
Once I started working out, I was looking for clothes that were geared towards people like me. People who are a little heavier wanting to get strong. That’s when I found Kinda Fit Kinda Fat and was in awe. I scrolled through their website and Instagram looking at all the strong people who looked like me too. It made so excited knowing I wasn’t alone and there was a brand that acknowledged their fans and rooted them on along their journey.
My name is Monica and a carne asada burrito is the best meal after hitting legs and I am Kinda Fit Kinda Fat!"
