"I was always chunky or chubby growing up and throughout high school, but didn't really have a body image issue until I was in my 30s. In school, I was not strong. I just did whatever was asked of me in gym class. Looking back, I definitely didn't eat the best. It became depressing that I didn't know how to change. I didn't want to be skinny. I just wanted to be healthy. Throughout my fitness journey, I've done tons of cardio, I've done CrossFit and I've done powerlifting. I've had a hard time having a healthy relationship with food...all food, but I've been working hard to fix that.
As I'm sure a lot of people can relate, the mental challenges have been obstacles that I've faced. The struggle of creating a healthy environment in order to achieve the goals of being a better version of myself is a daily challenge but reminding myself that my self worth is beyond just the external helps motivate me to get better every day. I believe that fitness should also include how you feel on the inside, not just what you look like on the outside. I love the fact that KFKF promotes self love and that no matter who you are or what your appearance is, you can be fit and pursue your goals.
